What to bring?

To make sure your vacation goes as smoothly as possible, the following items are a must!

Bike & Ricambi

Your bike: the descents and climbs can be long and continuous. Full Suspension is recommended but a Front with 100mm of travel is perfect. For years we have been using bi-suspension mountain bikes that allow us to climb and give us maximum fun and comfort on the descents.

The bicycle must be in full working order, if you mount new components make sure they work properly.

If you don’t have your own bike, we can rent you a good quality full suspension bike from LOMBARDO.

Tires: To reduce the impact of pinch and for maximum grip on the trails we recommend tubeless wheels and 2.1 inch tires, reinforced on the side.

Brakes: It is recommended that you overhaul your discs and also bring replacement pads.

Other spare parts: It is necessary to bring with you the usual tools and spare parts for quick interventions: two air chambers, chain stripper, derailleur / brake wire false links and spare pads together with the derailleur hanger if possible. Quick clamps of various sizes are recommended. The accompanying vehicle has a small repair shop with general spare parts (gearbox chains, wires, covers, chains, small parts).

Hydration Pack: it’s another essential piece of the kit. Preferably with a 2 liter water bag.

Useful: Energy bars, Mobile phone with protective case.

A raincoat or windbreaker. A waterproof jacket must be part of the travel luggage. Rain is very rare, but it can happen even if it lasts a few minutes, especially if you travel at high altitudes.

Helmet: mandatory, always!

Full finger gloves and shorts: this is the classic one used for long rides but consider that in Sicily the minimum average temperature in winter is around 15 °. Full finger gloves also to provide extra protection.

Sunscreen, such as cream and glasses.

A first aid kit wouldn’t hurt, however your guide will have a first aid kit.

Casual clothing: jacket, sweatshirt and t-shirts.

Camera if you want to take some intimate pictures at home….

Beach towel, bikini etc. if you want to spend a day at the beach.

Cosa portare?

Protezione solare, come crema e occhiali.
Un kit di pronto soccorso  non guasterebbe, comunque la tua guida avrà un kit di primo soccorso.
Abbigliamento casual:  GIubotto, felpa e magliette.
Macchina fotografica  se si desidera prtare a casa qualche immagine intima….
Beach  asciugamano, bikini ecc. se volete trascorrere una giornata in spiaggia.

My partner rides a bike, but I do not want to!

No problem, even non-riders are welcome:

with a discounted participation fee of 30% you can safely relax at the accommodation facilities waiting for your partner or visit the wonders of the surroundings, or even try the many sports that you can with us practice: surfing, kite, sailing, diving etc.

How much cash should I have with me?

The C2C is an ALL INCLUSIVE holiday, except for drinks or food at the bars and extra purchases.

Chances are that with € 100 per person per week you will have enough left over for your gifts!

Can I eat vegan or vegetarian?

No problem, Sicily is full of excellent and fresh vegetarian foods, and above all organic! When sending the booking form, let us know your needs and we will communicate it to the host structures and we will adjust for the packed lunches.

Does Coast2Coast operate all year?

Coast2Coast never stops! Just in February and January which are low seasons in Sicily, we usually take this time for personal vacations.

What types of bikes do you rent?

Lombardo Bike, which is a Sicilian-based bike company, is our main partner.

We mainly provide Mountain bikes, as most of our tours require a Mtb. If requested we can also provide E-bikes and Road bikes.

Here are the details of the  mountain bikes we rent:

-Frame type: hardtails and full suspension.

-Frame material: aluminum or carbon

-Sizes: Small to X-large

-Wheel size: 27.5 or 29

-Electric system: Pedal assist.

How do I transport my own bicycle?

Some airlines offer bike transport for around € 30 / € 40 round trip. Permitted weight from 20 kg. to 32 kg. So you will have to think carefully about the extra baggage! We suggest you disassemble the bike well and pack it in a cardboard bike box that you find in any bike shop with lots of protective material!

We can also provide you with the shipping service with our Express Courier (SDA with collection and delivery wherever you want) or you can send it with Italian post

Skill levels & preparation

We have classified each of our Coast2Coast Bike Tours with a specific skill and fitness level to help you decide which trip is right for you.

Here’s an explanation of what exactly each level means, in terms of biking skill and the level of fitness required for a particular mountain biking vacation.

  • Level 1   – Beginner
A star means that you have some experience (less than a year) in cycling off-road.
You might be a road cyclist who wants to do some mountain biking! You can ride all day but with breaks and relax without too much effort, you prefer long rides in company but not fatigue! An excellent starting point is with our C2C On the Sea and Wine Road.
  • Level 2 – Intermediate
The two stars indicate that you have been out mountain biking regularly for at least a year.
You have reasonable bike handling skills, and travel safely over a variety of terrains and conditions, including: singletrack, double track, muddy, wet, dry.
You are proficient on rolling trails with moderate climbs and descents, some of which may be a little technical in nature, but you can descend and walk some sections.
We go out on a bike at least three or four times a month. Per day you can cycle for 40 km and no more than 1000 meters in altitude.
Check out our Sea and Wine Tour.
  • Level 3   – Advanced
If you define yourself as a three star you have been using mountain biking for at least three years and you have no problems with most types of driving and obstacles, including drops (up to half a meter), rocks, logs, hairpin bends.
You have good bike handling skills and can lift the front and rear wheels, small jumps, get on and off well.
You have considerable experience driving on a wide range of technical terrains, including: rocky, root, muddy, loose, fast singletrack.
You go by bike at least once a week and rarely go down to walk with a bike in step.
Our C2C Morocco and Tunisia is for you! Per day you can cycle for 60 km and 1000 meters in altitude.
  • Level 4 – Expert
You have four stars because you were born on a bicycle! (Well, you’ve been in the saddle for at least five years, anyway!)
You can tackle anything the off-roader proposes to you, you have driving experience on all types of trails and obstacles (steps, loose rocks, roots, drop-offs, logs , north shore), you know how to go downhill and have fun even if it is bumpy, you have no problems getting wet and pedaling in the mud and you are always looking for adventure.
Every possible occasion is good to go out by bike, in all weather conditions, and you are happy to be on your bike all day! Per day you can cycle for 60 km and 2000 meters in altitude.
C2C Palermo / Etna Tour has been designed for you!

My partner and I are not trained riders. Can we still partecipate at Coast2Coast tours?

Coast2Coast Tours are vacation, not a race! The pace of the group is always the slowest and the most performing can go on with the GPS tracks that we give to everyone, possibly even with the GPS device. In many tours we have the means of support always available, so you can leave the bike and be comfortably carried at the end of the stage.
